About Me
I am a wildlife photographer, naturalist and a storyteller. In the early days, with a fascination for the natural world and outdoors and a background in Biological Sciences, I started volunteering with wildlife research and conservation organisations, working on diverse species in different landscapes. Later I became a researcher, assisting in projects and campaigns for conserving and studying Snow Leopard and mountain ungulates in the Trans-Himalayas and understanding regional human-wildlife interactions. Working in remote locations and interacting with local
communities and stakeholders helped me understand problems at grassroots level and made me realise the importance and need of incorporating these in the field of storytelling related to wildlife science and conservation. A self taught photographer, I often collaborate with researchers and environmental NGOs, to create stories explaining their work for a wider audience. Wildlife research calls for a rigorous scientific approach and expression which tends to make it somewhat esoteric and it has been my endeavour to use the visual medium to document the observations and also create a wider outreach.
Some of my images have been awarded in international and national photography competitions, including the prestigious Natural History Museum “Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year”, showcased in exhibitions like Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History. My articles have been featured in publications like BBC Wildlife, GEO, Sanctuary Asia, Saevus, BNHS, Hornbill, Condé Nast Traveller, Natgeo Traveller, etc.
Contact me on email or drop a message on instagram if you think we can collaborate and work together on a project.
